When we look back at our lives, we always hope that we have left a legacy in our life’s journey. As I look back at my Mom’s life, I am touched by the legacy that she left for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren as well as all the family, relatives, friends and neighbors. We were able to see her courage and love so clearly.

Mom and Dad were together for 70 years and Mom had been wheelchair-bound for 40 of those years with Muscular Dystrophy. She never let her handicap stop her from living a full life and she never once complained about her handicap (she felt lucky that she wasn’t worse off). We saw an epic love story unfold before our eyes as my Mom and Dad shared their devotion with each other, and my Dad was her caregiver and constant companion.

I love some of the last pictures I took of my Mom this summer. I’m so happy that I was able to spend the last two summers on the farm with her.
